# Community Guidelines

What keeps the map useful for the next person

Last Updated on July 29, 2026

droply only works because people report water sources honestly and treat each other well. These guidelines cover what belongs on the map, what doesn't, and what happens if you break them.

## 1\. What droply is for

droply maps public drinking water: fountains, springs, taps, refill stations, and natural sources you can actually drink from. Every source you add helps the next person find water when they need it. That's the whole point of the app.

## 2\. What doesn't belong on the map

The map only stays useful if it stays accurate.

* No toilets, unless there's a tap where you can refill your bottle. Map the tap, not the toilet.
* No private taps, ponds, wells, or other water you can't legally or safely drink from.
* No commercial water for sale: no vending machines, bottled water displays, or paid refill stations. Restaurants, cafés, and mountain huts only belong on the map if they offer a tap or free drinking water, not just bottles to buy.
* Report what you actually saw. If you're not sure a source is drinkable, say so, or leave it off the map.

* * *

## 3\. Photos

Photograph the water source, not the people around it. No people in photos at all. Your profile picture is the place for a face, not a fountain photo.

* No strangers' faces, even in the background.
*   No children.
* No licence plates or house numbers.
* No photos you didn't take yourself.

* * *

## 4\. No self-advertising

Links, email addresses, and phone numbers don't belong anywhere on droply: not in your username, your bio, a comment, or a fountain's story text. We filter your username and bio for these automatically; comments, story text, and display names go through AI moderation. Repeated attempts count against you (see below).

The same goes for promoting a business, channel, product, or service, in any field.

## 5\. Be accurate, be kind

Report what you actually saw: accuracy matters more than enthusiasm. Hate speech, harassment, threats, and explicit content have no place on droply. If you disagree with someone about a fountain's condition, argue about the fountain, not the person.

## 6\. What happens if you don't

Content that breaks these guidelines gets removed and earns you nothing.

If it keeps happening, you'll see a reminder in the app pointing you back to these guidelines. Keep going, and your account gets blocked: no more edits, comments, or uploads.

Getting unblocked isn't automatic: email hello@droply.ch and a moderator will follow up. You can always delete your own content yourself, blocked or not.
