Where it all began

The idea for droply was born while hiking through the New Mexico desert along the Continental Divide Trail. Out there, finding reliable water sources was a challenge, and we quickly realized how valuable it would be to share up-to-date information about water access with others.

That's why we created droply – a platform where hikers, travelers, and anyone on the go can discover, share, and update water sources worldwide.

Our vision

We want refilling to be the normal thing to do, in a city and on a trail.

That means knowing where the nearest public fountain or spring is, and trusting that it runs. Right now most people don't, so they buy a bottle instead. Every refill we make easy is one bottle that doesn't get made.

None of this works without the people who walk past and write down what they found. That is the whole app: a few thousand people keeping each other's water current.

We partner with companies in the water and sustainability sector, and with communes and cities that want to improve and share open data on drinking water.
